About the Project
What is the Lakeview Transportation System Plan (TSP)?
Lakeview's TSP:
- is part of the Town's Comprehensive Plan;
- guides transportation policies and investments;
- addresses transportation needs for people driving, walking, and biking within Lakeview; and
- helps the Town meet state and regional planning requirements.
Why does the TSP need to be updated?
The current TSP was adopted in 2001. Since that time:
- the Town's saw-mill oriented community and associated uses of its transportation system have shifted to newly established industries with new transportation needs;
- these new needs are not reflected in the current TSP, which can make decision-making related to land use and transportation challenging; and
- the Town's goals for its transportation system have evolved to support multiple modes and support local and regional traffic.
How will updating the TSP help?
The TSP update will study how people travel to, through, and within Lakeview and determine ways to develop a future transportation system that moves people safely and effectively. The update will guide future investments that:
- are consistent with the community's vision for Lakeview;
- promote smooth and safe motorized traffic flow;
- support walking, bicycling, and non-motorized trips;
- are future focused; and
- are fundable and financially sustainable.
