Transit
Overview
Cascades East Transit (CET) has identified a stop in Tumalo as a new addition to Route 29 as part of their 2040 Master Plan. There have been some public concerns about potential drawbacks to transit serving Tumalo. Ultimately, the location of a Tumalo stop will be decided by CET with the following locations under initial consideration.
The CET vehicle for this new connection in Tumalo would be a Ford Transit van, which has a maximum capacity of 8 people and is shown below. Additionally, the CET stop must be ADA accessible and connect to a sidewalk network.
Bruce Avenue Stop
The east side of Bruce Avenue across from the Tumalo Community Church has been identified as a possible location for a CET stop due to its proximity to downtown Tumalo. This stop would be located behind the parking lot for The Bite. A stop on Bruce Avenue would require the construction of sidewalks on the east side of the street before the development of the stop.
5th Street (Country Store) Stop
A stop on 5th Street near the Tumalo Country Store is identified as a potential location that provides access to Tumalo businesses and a connection to the surrounding sidewalk network. CET has partnered with Country Stores in the past and is in favor of locating a stop where drivers can access a restroom and food.
A concept map with these locations is shown in Exhibits to the right.
Feedback for the Transit Concepts will be collected in the next room, Feedback and Next Steps.
