What We've Heard From You!
The Placer Countywide ATP is intended to be a plan to support the needs and desires of Placer County residents. Data and analysis help identify trends and issues, but it does not tell the whole story. This plan is based in a strong foundation of community engagement, working with the people who travel the streets of Placer County every day to understand how they feel about traveling around the County, where they want to go, and how they want to get there.
The first phase of community engagement was conducted concurrently with the development of this existing conditions report and focused on gathering feedback regarding how people experience the current transportation system in the County. The engagement effort included two virtual workshops held in July 2024, seven pop ups at community events and meetings, and an online survey and mapping exercise. The feedback received is briefly

Phase 1 Virtual Workshop Summary Findings:
- Desire to recreational, transit, and everyday destinations
- Desire for connections between communities
- Desire for separation between bike facilities and driving lanes
- Desire to slow traffic and concerns about speeding
- Desire to close gaps in sidewalk and bike lane networks
- Desire for bike facilities to be marked instead of shoulders
- Desire to use canal alignments for shared use paths
- Desire for secure bike parking, including lockers
- Desire for intersection improvements for walking and biking
- Desire for wayfinding and fix it stations
- Suggestions for data sources to identify routes
- Requests to address rail crossings
- Requests for walking and biking facilities to be maintained during construction
- Appreciation for existing facilities, especially in Roseville and Lincoln, and a desire for wider facilities
- Desire for shade
Phase 1 Online Map Comment Summary:
- Roads currently feel uncomfortable for walking or biking due to high vehicle speeds and the lack of connected and continuous facilities.
- There is a desire to have greater access to trails, transit, and other destinations.
- Separated biking facilities are highly favored.
- Traffic lights are requested to detect bicycles and accommodate pedestrians.
- There is a desire for stronger regional (intercity) connections, potentially via trails.
- There is emphasis on creating safe walking and biking routes for students near elementary schools and Sierra College.
- There is a desire to improve crossings and increase visibility for those walking and biking.
